Tipperary's Noel McGrath to undergo surgery for testicular cancer

The Tipperary County Board released the news this morning.

TIPPERARY HURLER NOEL McGrath will undergo surgery for testicular cancer this Friday, the Tipperary County Board revealed this morning.

The 24-year old is a former Young Hurler of the Year and won back-to-back All-Stars in his first two years playing senior championship hurling.

The Loughmore-Castleiney forward scored one of Tipperary’s four goals as they beat Kilkenny in the 2010 All-Ireland final, a victory that denied Kilkenny their famous ‘Drive for Five’.

The statement from Tipperary reads:

“Noel McGrath will undergo  surgery for testicular cancer on Friday 17 April.

“The Tipperary senior hurling squad, senior hurling management, Tipperary County Board and all Tipperary supporters wish Noel well during this time and look forward to welcoming him back in the Tipperary colours in due course.

“We ask everyone to respect the privacy of  Noel and his family at this time and in the coming weeks.”
