LIVERPOOL HAVE agreed a €26.5 deal for Ajax striker Luis Suarez this afternoon.

The Anfield club annouced on their website in the past few moments that the Uruguayan is on the way to Merseyside.

The club  have now been given permission by Ajax to “discuss personal terms with the player and his representatives”.

The transfer saga between the two clubs has lasted for most of the January window.

Earlier Ajax boss Frank  de Boer stated lost patience with the negotiations and set a deadline for a deal: “If he is not transferred by then [within the next 12 hours], Luis will prepare for the match against NAC on Sunday,” he said

The arrival of the striker will add further fuel to speculation that Fernando Torres is on the brink of quitting Anfield.
