FRESH FROM HIS 12th-place finish at this year’s Tour de France, Nicolas Roche is considering a move away from AG2R La Mondiale according to reports.
Roche is currently team leader with the French cycling outfit but is on the brink of a switch to Saxo Bank-Tinkoff which would see him link up with four-time grand tour winner Alberto Contador, VeloNation reports.
Roche joined AG2R in 2009, finishing 14th in the 2010 Tour de France before going two places better in this season’s renewal.
Contador is currently serving a doping suspension after he tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol during the 2010 Tour de France.
The Spaniard announced a new three-year deal with Saxo Bank in June, ending speculation about a possible move of his own. He is expected to return to racing when his ban expires on 5 August.
