Unseeded Jelena Ostapenko stuns Simona Halep to win French Open

The Latvian is the first unseeded player to lift the Roland Garros title.

LATVIA JELENA OSTAPENKO stunned third seed Simona Halep 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 today to win her maiden Grand Slam title and become the lowest-ranked champion in French Open history.

Ostapenko, 20 is the first unseeded player to lift the Roland Garros title and the first Latvian major champion in history.
