Padden handed start as Armagh launch league campaign

The former Mayo man will make his league debut against the Dubs in the Athletic Grounds tomorrow night.

FORMER MAYO MAN Billy Joe Padden has been handed his first start in the orange of Armagh as Paddy O’Rourke’s side kick off their league campaign against Dublin in the Athletic Grounds.

Padden will start at centre half-forward against Pat Gilroy’s men tomorrow evening as part of a side which sees Andy Mallon, Brendan Donaghy, Brian Mallon and Ciaran McKeever return to action.

The Dubs have been hit by a spate of injuries in recent weeks with Ger Brennan suffering ankle ligament damage in the O’Byrne Shield victory over Meath last weekend.

James McCarthy will take his place at centre-back while St. Brigid’s man Sean Murray has been handed his first league start for last year’s All-Ireland semi-finalists.
