Paolo di Canio in bizarre exchange of words with angry Sunderland fans

The Black Cats boss chose to mime his frustration from the edge of the 18-yard box.

PAOLO DI CANIO had a crazy confrontation with Sunderland’s travelling fans after they lost 3 — 0 to West Brom.

The Italian, who guided the Black Cats away from relegation danger last season, is under pressure after Sunderland failed to win any of their first five games. Di Canio’s side are bottom of the Premier League table, on one point.

The Mackems boss strolled to the edge of the box near the away supporters’ section and applauded the travelling fans. He gestured for them to keep their chins up but then got upset as sections of the crowd began to berate him. Di Canio stood and soaked up the abuse for a minute before turning on his heels and walking towards the dressing rooms.
