Fenlon backs SPL rivals Celtic to make point in Moscow

The Hibs boss reckon the Bhoys can progress with a bit of luck in Europe this season.

FORMER SHELS AND Bohemians boss Pat Fenlon reckons Celtic are good enough to pick up a point against Spartak Moscow at the Luzhniki Stadium this evening.

The Hoops travel to Russia brimming with confidence after claiming top spot in the SPL thanks to a 2-0 win away to Motherwell on Saturday.

And Hibernian manager Fenlon – who saw his side draw 2-2 with Neil Lennon’s men at Celtic Park earlier this term – believes if Celtic can step up their away form they have a chance of progressing from their Champions League group.

Celtic picked up a point against Portuguese side Benfica on matchday one and Fenlon insists Celtic’s home record will stand them in good stead.

“I think they might get a point in Moscow and that would be a very good result for them,” he told TheScore. “Celtic have to pick up points at home because going to Barcelona, Benfica and Moscow is going to be very difficult, they are three very hard places to go. But if they can manage to pick up points on the road, their home record is quite decent in Europe so I think that’s where their chance is.

“If they can come third in that group and manage to get into the Europa League I think they will be quite happy because it’s going to be tough,” he added.
