Why football teams should never wear the same colours as the stewards

Peterborough United’s luminous change strip resembles the high-visibility jackets worn by stadium staff.

THERE’S BEEN A growing trend among football clubs to produce the brightest and most colourful away strips imaginable in recent seasons.

League One club Peterborough United are an example of the dangers involved in wearing gear that clashes with high-visibility jackets.

During Saturday’s 1-0 win away to Northampton, Posh midfielder Michael Bostwick picked up the ball just inside the opposing half and looked to spread the play out wide to what must have appeared to be a team-mate.

Unfortunately, he had actually passed to a steward strolling down the touchline on his phone.
