Phil Taylor: 'I reacted angrily and I feel terrible.'

‘The Power’ clashed with his long-time adversary Raymond van Barneveld after securing a final spot against Michael van Gerwen with a 6-4 victory.

PHIL TAYLOR HAS apologised to Raymond van Barneveld for the bust-up that occurred at the end of Sunday night’s PDC World Championship semi-final in London.

‘The Power’ clashed with his long-time adversary after securing a final spot against Michael van Gerwen with a 6-4 victory.

The pair had to be separated by security guards before going backstage, but a contrite Taylor was happy to admit his wrongdoing to Sky Sports News on Monday morning.

“I reacted disgracefully and I feel terrible,” Taylor told Sky Sports.

“I’m ashamed because I really like Raymond but he hurt me a little bit, that was all it was.

“It was spur of the moment and the PDC can throw the book at me.”

Taylor did not elaborate on what van Barneveld had said to hurt him, though the Dutchman had stressed before the match that he did not fear the 52-year-old, who played the match through a heavy cold.
