PODGE COLLINS HAS announced he will focus solely on inter-county hurling for 2017.
A dual player this year, it has been reported this morning by Clare FM that Collins will only be in action for the Banner hurling squad next year.
He had revealed in September that he would concentrate on just one code next year.
Collins was one of the stars of the Clare side that secured the All-Ireland SHC title in 2013, winning an All Star in the process.
The 24-year-old also helped the senior footballers win the Division Three League title and reach the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland SFC earlier this year.
But dual players are increasingly rare in GAA given the intensive demands placed on players in both codes, and Collins has handed a boost to the newly appointed joint management team of Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor by committing to hurling.
