POLL: Should the All-Ireland U21 football championship be abolished?

It’s one of the key recommendations put forward by GAA CEO Paraic Duffy.

IT’S A MAJOR talking point since GAA Director General Páraic Duffy released a wide-ranging discussion document yesterday.

One of the key recommendations as to help address the growing issue of player burnout is the abolition of the U21 football championship.

It’s a radical proposal and hasn’t gone down well with some leading figures, including Tyrone’s All-Ireland winning boss Feargal Logan.

In many people’s eyes, the U21 championship is viewed as the perfect stepping stone between the minor and senior grades but to others, it’s just another unnecessary distraction as training takes place when many players are involved with club, college and senior intercounty teams.

But we want to know what you think.

Is it time to abolish the All-Ireland U21 football championship?
