The people of Ireland cast plenty of votes on behalf of Steph Roche. Donall Farmer/INPHO

The Irish ability to hijack online polls was as strong as ever with the Puskas Award voting

FIFA’s traffic figures show that we all really got behind Stephanie Roche and her cracking goal.

WE DO LOVE any sort of online poll in our country, that much is sure. Stephanie Roche’s goal might have made the final 3 for the Puskas Award even without almost every football fan in Ireland voting for it multiple times in the last week, but we didn’t want to leave anything to chance.

A member of FIFA’s social media team released some traffic figures for just before the poll closed, and you can see that people from Ireland were making pretty regular visits to have their say.

Annoyingly, Colombia is o.1% ahead of our traffic total. With James Rodriguez being one of Roche’s competitors, Ireland needs to overtake that figure immediately.

C’mon, Irish fans, let’s be having you!
