Richard Dunne selects two Irish players in the best Premier League XI he's played with

There’s a strong Man City presence.

RICHARD DUNNE AMASSED 431 top-flight appearances during spells with Everton, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers and shared a dressing room with some notable players.

But the retired Ireland international had no hesitation in picking Shay Given and Robbie Keane in the best Premier League XI of his former team-mates.

“He’s got a very big presence around his goal and he’s constantly communicating with his defence. For that reason, I’ve picked Shay,” Dunne said of his selection of Given in the team.

There’s a strong Manchester City theme to the selection with Given, Pablo Zabaleta, Sylvain Distin, Michael Ball and James Milner all included for their time at the Ethiad Stadium.

Speaking of his decision to include Keane, 36-year-old Dunne said: ”Robbie Keane came to Aston Villa on loan for a few months and he was brilliant at a club and a team that was struggling at the time. I think he was player of the month for two months in a row.”
