ROB ELLIOT’S CHANCE to stake a claim as the Newcastle United number one has been cut short by injury this afternoon.

The Ireland international, in for first choice Tim Krul who is recovering from an ankle problem, was forced off at half-time in today’s early Premier League kick-off at home to Chelsea.

That meant a first team debut for 21-year-old reserve stopper Jak Alnwick.

The Magpies earned a 2-1 win thanks to a Papiss Cisse brace.
