NOMINATIONS FOR THE 23rd edition of ESPN’s annual sports awards have been announced with the likes of LeBron James, Aaron Rodgers and Stephen Curry among the top names included.

Running since 1993, the ESPYs (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) recognise the achievements of athletes across an array of sports in the US.

After leading LA Galaxy to MLS Cup success and winning the league’s MVP award for the first time in his four years in the States, Robbie Keane has been shortlisted for Best MLS Player alongside Lee Nguyen (New England Revolution), Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders) and Bradley Wright-Phillips (New York Red Bulls).

Keane wrote on Facebook: “Honoured to be nominated for Best MLS Player at the 2015 ESPY Awards”.

Hosted by actor and comedian Joel McHale (of Community fame), the winners will be announced at a live televised event on 15 July.
