Ronan names squad for Irish women's Euro double header

Ireland face Wales and Scotland on Leeside later this month.

IT’S NOT ALL about the men this month, you know.

Ireland manager Sue Ronan today named her squad ahead of two UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 qualifiers in the coming weeks.

They face Wales (16 June) and Scotland (21 June) at Turner’s Cross in Cork.

“The squad is improving all the time and we now have a great mix of youth and experience,” said Ronan today.

“We had a good run out against Switzerland last month and that will stand to us for these matches. We know what we need to do after losing in Edinburgh but we have real quality in this side and the girls are full of belief. If we get a large, vocal home crowd then there is no reason why we can’t get the points that we need from these matches.”

Emma Byrne makes her return to the squad after missing the recent friendly with Switzerland due to injury while Leaving Cert student, Denise O’Sullivan, also gets the nod.

Here’s the full panel: Emma Byrne, Eve Badana, Grace Maloney, Yvonne Tracy, Louise Quinn, Megan Campbell, Sophie Perry, Diane Caldwell, Meabh De Burca, Niamh Fahey, Ciara Grant, Marie Curtin, Ruesha Littlejohn, Julie Ann Russell, Aine O’Gorman, Michele O’Brien, Denise O’Sullivan, Shannon Smyth, Cherelle Khassal, Stephanie Roche.
