Caught cold by a left head kick from Holly Holm, the invincible Rousey crumpled to the canvas where she was handed the first defeat of her professional MMA career and lost the bantamweight title that was so far out of reach for so many of her rivals for so long.
More than a year of doubt, reflection and rebuilding followed, but now Rousey is back and ready for her shot at the new champion, Amanda Nunes, on 30 December.
