THREE-TIME Irish Elite champion Roy Sheehan got off to a winning start at the World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, this afternoon.

The St Michael’s Athy welterweight beat Bahamas representative Carl Hield 15-10 having trailed 4-3 after the first.

Sheehan, the only Irish boxer in action today, will now face Croatia’s Borna Katalinic at the weekend.

European light-welterweight champion, Ray Moylette, will be centrestage tomorrow.
