Shamrock Rovers book semi-final meeting with Bohs after win over Cork

Goals from Ronan Finn and Ciaran Kilduff saw off the Rebels at Tallaght Stadium.

Shamrock Rovers 2-0 Cork City

SHAMROCK ROVERS ARE into the last four of this season’s EA Sports Cup thanks to a 2-0 win against Cork City at Tallaght Stadium tonight.

Goals from Ronan Finn and Ciaran Kilduff late in either half handed the Hoops victory over the travelling Rebels — who sit one place above them in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division table in second place.

Both teams were down to ten men on 32 minutes after Garry Buckley was shown a straight red for appearing to head-butt Finn and Gary McCabe picked up a second yellow card in the aftermath of the incident.

Cork had a couple of chances late on but the Hoops held on and face rivals Bohemians in the semi-finals.
