Fit-again Shane Long called up by Trapattoni for Greece game

The West Brom striker was initially left out of the provisional squad for the Aviva Stadium friendly.

SHANE LONG HAS been included in Giovanni Trapattoni’s 23-man squad for next week’s friendly with Greece in Dublin.

The West Brom striker was initially left out of the provisional squad for the Aviva Stadium friendly.  But, after he came through 70 minutes of Premier League action last night, the Tipperary-born forward has now been included in Trap’s panel.

Long had been suffering from a hamstring injury but club boss Steve Clarke indicated last weekend he was on course for a comeback and he duly started in the win over Southampton last night.

The squad are due to report for training in Dublin on Sunday morning.

The full squad is: Keiren Westwood, David Forde, Darren Randolph; Seamus Coleman, John O’Shea, Darren O’Dea, Stephen Kelly, Paul McShane, Stephen Ward, Ciaran Clark, Keith Andrews, James McCarthy, Keith Fahey, David Meyler, Glenn Whelan, Aiden McGeady, James McClean, Robbie Brady, Wes Hoolahan, Kevin Doyle, Simon Cox, Jon Walters, Shane Long.
