Spurs agree deal for FC Twente's Chadli

Swansea and Aston Villa had both shown interest in the Belgian.

TOTTENHAM ARE SET to sign FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli after agreeing a fee for the Belgian international on Sunday.

Chadli will discuss personal terms and undergo a medical with the Premier League club before officially sealing his move to White Hart Lane.

The 23-year-old has spent three seasons with Dutch club Twente and scored in both Champions League ties against Spurs during the 2010-11 season.

Once the deal, reported to be worth £7 million (8.1 million euros, $10.7 million), goes through, the winger will join his new team-mates in Hong Kong, where Andre Villas-Boas’s side will compete in the Barclays Asia Trophy.

Swansea and Aston Villa had also shown interest in Chadli, who has dual citizenship and played for Morocco in a friendly before opting to represent Belgium, the country of his birth.

He would become Villas-Boas’s second close-season signing following his swoop for Brazil midfielder Paulinho from Corinthians earlier this month.

Chadli, who has 14 international caps for Belgium, learnt his trade at Dutch second division club AGOVV Apeldoorn before making a name for himself when he moved to Twente in 2010.
