It was a forgettable evening for Shelbourne in the First Division
There were also wins for Finn Harps, Wexford Youths and Cabinteely.

FIRST DIVISION FAVOURITES Shelbourne suffered their first defeat of the season as Athlone Town stormed to a 3-1 win at Tolka Park.

Garbhan Coughlan and Eric Foley set the visitors on their way and after Gareth Coughlan have Shels hopes of rescuing a point in the closing stages, Daniel Purdy sealed the win for the Town in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Cabinteely picked up three points with a 1-0 win over Waterford United and Finn Harps joined Athlone at the summit following a 2-0 victory over Cobh Ramblers.

First Division Results:

  • Cabinteely 1-0 Waterford United
  • Finn Harps 2-0 Cobh Ramblers
  • Shelbourne 1-3 Athlone Town
  • Wexford Youths 1-0 UCD
