ALL-IRELAND FINALISTS ST Brigid’s have survived an extra-time battle against rivals Pádraig Pearses to defend their Roscommon senior football title.

The sides also met in last year’s final which St Brigid’s won after a replay. And their 2026 clash also produced huge drama with extra-time required to determine a winner.

After David Murray scored a goal for Pearses in the second half of normal time, Tom Butler landed a late two-pointer for the 2024 champions to send the contest to extra-time at 1-15 to 0-18.

St Brigid’s took control in extra-time as Conor Hand scored a vital goal to help give the holders a 1-20 to 1-15 lead at the break.

Declan Kenny converted a penalty to provide a second goal for Pearses in the second period to cut the gap to five, but St Brigid’s held on to remain at the summit in Roscommon.
