ST. PATRICK’S ATHLETIC will travel 5,000km to Kazakhstan next week after the Airtricity League side overcame IBV Vestmannaeyjar in their Europa League First Qualifying Round tie.

First-half goals from Ian Daly and Derek Doyle gave Pat’s a 2-0 victory in Inchicore last night and a 2-1 win on aggregate, overturning last week’s disappointing defeat in Reyjkavik.

The Saints will now take on Shakhter Karagandy in the tournament’s Second Qualifying Round. The first leg will be played next Thursday night in Karagandy, with the return leg pencilled in for 21 July in Inchicore.
