STEVEN PIENAAR is off to White Hart Lane. I know because he just told me.

The South Africa midfielder will complete a move to Tottenham in a deal believed to be worth about £3 million.

The highly-rated playmaker was also pursued by Chelsea and Inter Milan but he revealed earlier that Harry Redknapp was persuaded him to join him at Spurs.

He told his followers: “To end speculation I am going to Spurs. I’ve had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart.”

Tottenham intensified their chase of Pienaar, knowing they’ll receive a sell-on payment when Darren Bent joins Aston Villa from Sunderland.

Spurs had already agreed personal terms with Pienaar’s agent over a four-year deal. He will wear the No 40 jersey, he says.
