'How the heck did that happen?' - when good rugby ideas go horribly wrong

Bernard Foley almost set his team up for a game-changing try. Physics and fate had other ideas.

THE AUCKLAND BLUES sparked some much needed life into their Super Rugby season as they beat the NSW Waratahs 21-13 at Eden Park.

The New Zealanders, who were warned to buck up their ideas by scrum-half Piri Weepu midweek, looked the better team throughout but benefited from one huge slice of luck that swung the tie in their favour.

Out-half Bernard Foley attempted an ambitious cross-field kick that almost had right winger Cam Crawford home free for a try. Instead, the ball bounced cruelly and straight to Blues winger Lolagi Visiniga. The rest was pure, Super Rugby, offloading magic.
