The Heat is on as Miami make NBA Finals

LeBron James scored 31 points as the Heat pull away late in the fourth to secure a match up with Thunder.

THE MIAMI HEAT are into the NBA Finals after a 101-88 win over the Boston Celtics in game seven of the Eastern Conference finals.

Once again, LeBron James stepped up when the Heat needed him most, scoring 31 points and taking 12 rebounds to lead Miami to victory.

The Celtics had started the game well and led by 11 points at one stage in the second quarter when, from 35 points all, they went on a 14-3 scoring run in just over three and a half minutes of playing time to estrablish a 49-38 lead.

But from then on the home side took control with James and Dwyane Wade (23 points) heading the Heat’s second-half charge.

Chris Bosh, who started on the bench, chipped in with 19 points (and a career high three 3-pointers) for Miami as the home team outscored Boston by 20 in the second half to win the finals series 4-3.

Rajon Rondo top-scored for Boston with 22 points and added 14 assists and 10 rebounds and was one of five Celtics to reach double figures.

Miami will now take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the climax to the NBA season, starting on Tuesday.
