The Morning Score: Friday

Ireland’s cricket side get going out east, the World MatchPlay continues and it’s a busy weekend of Premier League football ahead.

1. #STICKY WICKET Ireland kick off their Cricket World Cup against Bangladesh… about now.

That sentence didn’t make any sense to you? Read our guide to the tournament.

Still lost? Here’s our dummies guide to the game of cricket.

2. #SIX NATIONS The action is a just one sleep away. ‘Citing!

England named their side to face France at Twickenham in the potential championship decider. Lewis Moody had been expected to make a return this weekend after a knee injury had ruled him out of England’s opening games against Wales and Italy.

But the flanker suffered a recurrence of the same knee injury while training with the national side earlier this week, leaving Johnson with no option but to omit him from the matchday 22.

3. #AFL Tommy Walsh is settling in down under. He started well for St Kilda last week in their pre-season tournament. One Saints fan, Hallam Drury, kindly produced for us a video of the Kerryman’s best bits.

4. #MATCHPLAY Tiger’s gone but the action continues at the World Matchplay Championship. We’ll have the latest as it unfolds.

5. #PULITZER PRIZE Someone give a raise to the guy who wrote a supposedly post-coital blog post on Zenyatta’s website in the first person.

Last year’s Horse of the Year finally went to stud yesterday. It was a ‘text-book’ hook-up, she wrote.

6. #FANTASY FOOTBALL After they spent last week’s FA Cup weekend sipping parasol-decorated cocktails at an exclusive beach resort, our FF boffins are back this morning for the return of league football.

Neil and Jeremy have been tickling the feet of the Premier League stats until they get the answers they want. We’ll have the results in the next hour.

7. #HOWZAT? Let’s hope the Irish cricket side create some similarly happy memories this time around, eh? Best of luck, chaps…
