The Morning Score: Friday

Just one more Alpine climb and then it’s all downhill towards the weekend.

1. #EUROPA It was an evening of mixed fortunes for two Irish clubs in European competition last night.

St Pat’s booked their place in the next round of the Europa League with a 2-0 win over Shakter Karagandy tonight thanks to goals from Evan McMillan and Derek Doyle.

Bohemians, meanwhile ,were dumped out as they drew 1-1 at home to Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana, meaning they lose 3-1 on aggregate.

Glenn Cronin had given the hosts the lead but when Ger O’Brien scored an own goal, the Gypsies adventure was over.

2. #LE TOUR Today we climb in the Alps for the last time this year. How the hell are they going to do it after yesterday’s day’s work.

Andy Schleck won the stage after an incredible performance in the mountains. He attacked early and gained 2’15″ over his nearest rival Cadel Evans to finally stamp his authority on this year’s Tour de France. Nicolas Roche has a big day too – check out the details here.

3. #CHAMPIONSHIP With a mouth-watering weekend of GAA action in store, yesterday Galway named an unchanged side to face Waterford in Thurles on Sunday.

We’ll have liveblogs of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers and hurling quarter-finals throughout Saturday and Sunday.

4. #GOLF newly-crowned Open champion Darren Clarke is to receive the PGA Recognition Award in December. And PGA chief executive Sandy Jones says that the 42-year-old had already been chosen before his victory at Sandwich last Sunday.

5. #NFL The lockout that threatened the American football season took a major step towards an end late last night. The owners voted to accept an agreement with players.
