The Morning Score: Friday

It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on… ahem. Welcome to the beginning of the weekend, here’s the morning’s sports news.

1. #RWC2011 Forty-six games down, two to go. The big one is not until Sunday, but Australia and Wales go head-to-head presently in the Rugby World Cup’s third/fourth place playoff.

You can join Niall for minute-by-minute coverage of the game here.

2. #ALL-STARS Kilkenny legend Henry Shefflin has been selected for a remarkable tenth GAA All-Star Hurling award.

This season’s winners were announced this morning, with seven of Shefflin’s All-Ireland winning team-mates joining him on the final shortlist. The selection also includes four players from beaten finalists Tipperary, two from Dublin and a lone nominee from Waterford.

3. #RWC2011 All Blacks coach Graham Henry is trusting the the same starting XV which beat Australia to get the job done in Sunday’s World Cup final against France.

Adam Thomson has recovered from an ankle knock in time to take his place in the replacements bench, with Victor Vito forced out of the matchday 22.

4. #GOLF Luke Donald has turned up the heat in the race to top the PGA money list.

The Briton, who played alongside money list rival Webb Simpson yesterday, is in a seven-way tie for the lead at the Disney Classic at Lake Buena Vista in Florida.

5. #EUROPA LEAGUE Karl Sheppard’s second-half header gave the Shamrock Rovers travelling support something to shout about in Thessaloniki last night, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Hoops from losing 2-1 in their Europa League Group A clash against PAOK.
