Earlier at headquarters, the Dublin minor hurlers beat Waterford by 6-19 to 5-13 in their own thrilling semi-final.

2. #LIVIN’ IN AMERICA? Robbie Keane looks set for a move to the MLS after Tottenham reportedly accepted a £4m bid from the LA Galaxy for the striker last night. The Republic of Ireland striker had until 5am BST this morning to agree personal terms before the MLS transfer window shut.

4. #PREMIER LEAGUE A Steven Reid own goal handed Manchester United all three points yesterday as the champions launched the defence of their Premier League title with a 2-1 win over West Brom at the Hawthorns.

Earlier, Andre Villas-Boas’ first competitive game in charge of Chelsea ended in a stalemate, the Blues drawing 0-0 away to Stoke City.

5. #DJOKOVIC With the season’s final Grand Slam just around the corner, Novak Djokovic continued his remarkable run of form, beating Mardy Fish 6-2 3-6 6-4 to win the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
