The Morning Score: Monday
Here’s everything you need to know this morning – apart from how to take a penalty like Andrea Pirlo.

1. #EURO 2012 England’s European Championship dream is dead after Roy Hodgson’s men were outplayed, outpassed, outPirloed and ultimately outpenaltied by Italy in Kiev last night.

Despite the Azzurri’s dominance for 120 minutes England held on for a 0-0 draw, but it was another night of penalty heartbreak as Ashleys Young and Cole missed the decisive spot-kicks.

Italy will now face Germany in the second semi-final on Thursday evening. The other semi-final sees Spain play Portugal on Wednesday evening.

2. #CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 Tipperary booked their place in the Munster SHC final with a one-point win against Cork in an enthralling semi-final in Páirc Uí Chaoimh yesterday.

In the football, Mayo never needed to get out of second gear to beat Leitrim by 4-20 to 0-10 while in Ulster, Down pulled off a remarkable comeback to beat Monaghan 1-14 to 1-13.

3. #GAA QUALIFIERS The draw for the second round of the All-Ireland SHC qualifiers was made this morning, pitting Dublin manager Anthony Daly with a return to his native Clare. The other fixture will see Cork host Offaly.

4. #CHAMPIONS LEAGUE The road to Wembley 2013 begins this morning when the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League takes place in Nyon.

Airtricity League champions Shamrock Rovers are among the unseeded teams in the pot for the second round, which will be drawn at 12 noon Irish time.

5. #TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP Padraig Harrington finished in a tie for 11th after a closing day 69 at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut last night.
