The Morning Score: Thursday

A good night for the Irish in the Premier League, the golfers head to Qatar and Arizona, while we gear ourselves up for Superbowl Sunday.

1. #PREMIER LEAGUE It was a good night for Liverpool as Anfield’s newest hero Luis Suarez bagged a goal on his debut (we think). Over at St. Andrew’s, however, Roberto Mancini realised that City will need to up their game if they are to keep pace at the top of the table. For those of you who missed it, all of the details are in our midweek Premier League mop-up.

2. #HAPPY HAMMER It was also a good night for the Irish stars in action in the Premier League. Damien Duff scored the only goal in Fulham’s 1-0 win  over an Andy Carroll-less Newcastle, while Robbie Keane got on the scoresheet on his first appearance for new club West Ham.

3. #SIX NATIONS The fun begins at 7.45 pm tomorrow night when Wales take on England in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium. We’ll be continuing our tournament preview today when we take a look at Andy Robinson’s Scotland and bookies’ favourites England. While you’re waiting, have a look at how we rated the French and the Welsh yesterday.

4. #FORE! Is it Thursday again already? The golf gets back underway again this morning, with the European lads heading off to Qatar for the Qatar Masters while sunny Arizona is the destination for the US Tour. If you’ve forgotten what happened last weekend already, our golf guru Neil Cullen is on hand with a quick refresher course. Rory McIlroy isn’t in action this weekend – he’s probably too busy dunking custard creams into his tea to even practice.

5. #SUPERBOWL COUNTDOWN We don’t know about you, but here at TheScore, everybody’s pretty psyched for Superbowl XLV on Sunday night / Monday morning. Just in case Steven O’Rourke’s features on the best half-time shows, the biggest upsets and the best individual performances weren’t enough to satisfy your thirst, we’ll be bringing you more historic highlights throughout the day. All NFL fans welcome, even Steelers fans. We don’t discriminate.

6. #YOUTUBE ROUND-UP Everybody loves Thursdays and we’re betting that our weekly Youtube round-up has something to do with that. We’ll bring you all of our favourites later on this afternoon, but here’s a little teaser to whet the appetite and maybe inspire some suggestions of your own. Bring ‘em on.
