The Morning Score: Thursday

Reports indicate that Steve Bruce is ready to raid the Man United reserves, Nicolas Roche has a disappointing day in France, and the Olympic Torch looks set to come to Ireland.

1. #LONDON 2012 The Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) will meet in July to confirm that the Olympic torch will take a detour through Ireland during its trip around Britain.

An OCI spokesperson confirmed to TheScore.ie yesterday that a deal was close after the British and Irish governments gave their approval to the deal and said that it was only now “subject to OCI approval”.

2. #DEPARTURES LOUNGE Oh, the transfer silly season is well and truly upon us. After a busy day of transfer activity which saw Liverpool seal a deal with Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson and Manchester United reportedly snap up Blackburn’s Phil Jones, it emerged yesterday evening that Steve Bruce is preparing a £12m bid to take John O’Shea, Wes Brown and Darron Gibson from Old Trafford to the Stadium of Light.

We’ll have all of the latest rumours and speculation in our daily transfer round-up at lunchtime.

3. #ROUGH RIDE Nicolas Roche will be hoping to bounce back from yesterday’s disappointing performance when the Critérium du Dauphiné travels from La Motte-Servolex to Mâcon later today.

Roche finished yesterday’s time-trial stage in 43rd place, dropping back to 16th in the general classification standings.

4. #TWESTION TIME He’s arguably the best footballer in the country, he hangs around the West Wing and later on today Bernard Brogan will answer your questions (12pm throw-in).

The Dublin forward will be the second interviewee in our Twestion Time series. You can follow the chat live on Twitter as TheJournal (@thejournal_ie) puts the questions to Brogan (@BernardBrogan).

5. #WHAT’S IN A NAME? It was announced yesterday that RaboDirect have replaced Magners as the title sponsor of the Celtic League, with the competition being rebranded as the RaboDirect PRO12.

The new name has already come in for a bit of stick from fans – what do you think of it?

6. #YOUTUBE It’s Thursday which means that it’s time for our weekly YouTube round-up. As usual, Adrian will be compiling the countdown later on this afternoon ,so if there’s a gem of a clip that you feel we might have missed, send it to sport@thescore.ie.

FYI, if this is the clip you were thinking of sending, we’re on it already. Thanks to the lads at Balls.ie for the heads-up.
