Early Doors

The Morning Score: Thursday

Rugby or football? Andorra or Wales? Daddy or chips?

1. #RWC2011 Wales have named the team to face Ireland in the Rugby World Cup quarter-final in Wellington on Saturday morning.

In-form Leigh Halfpenny gets the nod ahead of James Hook and Lee Byrne at full-back while flanker Dan Lydiate is back in.

Check out the full team here.

2.  #RWC2011 Rory Best looks set to start the game meanwhile after he underwent another assessment overnight.

The Ulster hooker was a doubt, despite being named in the side, because of a sprained shoulder joint he picked up in the win over Italy last weekend.

3. #EURO2012 Ireland’s soccer team trained in Barcelona before travelling to Andorra by coach today ahead of tomorrow evening’s penultimate qualifier with Andorra.

Giovanni Trapattoni is likely to name his starting side at his press conference around 4.30pm.

4. #AIRTRICITY LEAGUE Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians played out a 1-1 draw at Tallaght Stadium last night, meaning the Hoops miss the chance to draw level with title rivals Sligo Rovers.

Dan Murray put the home side ahead half way through the first period but Glenn Cronin drew the Gypsies level on 60 minutes.

5. #RULES SERIES Ireland manager Anthony Tohill yesterday named his provisional squad for the trip down under later this month. Check out the detail here.

Ireland will play Australia in games in Etihad Stadium Melbourne, on 28 October and the Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast on 4 November.

6. #YOUTUBE If it’s Thursday - and I’m told it is – it must be time for our weekly YouTube round up.

I think it was Jonny Sexton who gave us this glimpse of Keith Earls’ birthday celebrations on the Guiness Rugby Facebook page.

Pretty tame compared to the English team room, you imagine.
