The Morning Score: Tuesday

It’s Champions League Tuesday, Scotland are missing a key trio for Sunday’s game at Murrayfield, and England’s cricketers get ready for the mighty Netherlands in Nagpur.

1. #CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Ah, Champions League Tuesday, our favourite Tuesday of them all.

Chelsea will be hoping to banish the memory of Saturday’s FA Cup defeat when they visit Copenhagen later on this evening. Torres isn’t cup-tied, so expect him to feature prominently.

We’ll be keeping an eye on Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid as well. They travel to France to take on Lyon.

A far more important fixture, however, is this afternoon’s rock-paper-scissors face-off to see who has to stay late and keep you posted with minute-by-minute updates. Stay tuned.

2. #SIX NATIONS The team news is starting to trickle out ahead of this weekend’s round of Six Nations games.

Joe Ansbro, Hugo Southwell and Rory Lamont have all been ruled out of Ireland’s trip to Murrayfield. Ireland, on the other hand, are welcoming a few familiar faces back to the fold – Tommy Bowe and Andrew Trimble have both been named in Declan Kidney’s 30-man panel.

3. #FORE! We know the WGC-Accenture Match Play kicks off tomorrow and, though we are getting a little bit giddy at the thought, we still have some unfinished business from last weekend to take care of.

Rather than ruin the suspense, we’ll say nothing until Neil Cullen pops along with his weekly golf column.

4. #NIXON TAPES There were twists and turns in the Ricky Nixon controversy yesterday when videos surfaced which appeared to reinforce allegations that the AFL super-agent, well-known for his dealings on these shores, had an “affair” with a 17-year-old girl. Yesterday, we brought you all the latest details.

5. #HOWZAT? Is everybody enjoying the Cricket World Cup so far? Good. If you’re still struggling to get your head around what exactly is going on, check out our beginner’s guide to the tournament here.

While we’re having our porridge at about 9am, England will be opening their Eoin Morgan-less campaign against the Netherlands in Nagpur. We’ll catch you up with their result as well as the main talking points from the opening four days later on this afternoon.

6. #GOL! When we were going over the things that we learned last weekend, we forgot to mention the goal-scoring prowess of Deportivo la Coruna goalkeeper Dani Aranzubia.

This injury-time effort may just have kept his boss in a job for another couple of days.
