The BBC reports that Derek Brien crashed during the opening lap of the event yesterday morning. Brien was an experience competitor and a former Manx Grand Prix winner.

2. #ITALIAN JOB Paul McShane will lead a much-changed Irish side against Italy in Liege tonight. there’s so much in that sentence that doesn’t seem quite right.

Robbie Keane has been sent on his holidays early and Trap has named an experimental side for the friendly against his own country.

The team is Forde, McShane, St Ledger, O’Dea/Kelly, Ward, Coleman, Andrews, Foley, Hunt/Lawrence, Keogh, Shane Long.

What do you think of that line-up?
