The Morning Score: Tuesday

All the sports news you need to know this morning — or your money back.

1. #KEANE Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane completed a “dream” move to the LA Galaxy last night after Tottenham Hotspur accepted an undisclosed sum, believed to be in the region of £3m, from the MLS club.

Keane’s reported $4.5m salary will see him become the fourth-highest earner in the league, behind David Beckham, Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez.

2. #ÁRAS 2011 The voice of the GAA, Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh, has said that he is “really considering” a bid for the presidency and revealed he will make a decision between “now and the end of next week” after consulting his family.

“What’s really got to me is the vast surge of support from the people,” Ó Muircheartaigh told RTÉ’s Morning Ireland this morning.

3. #MC GOVERN Patrick Power, the man alleged to have assaulted Mark McGovern during a GAA match in San Francisco, has been handed a 96-week ban by the GAA, the Irish Examiner reports.

Power has been named as a “person of interest” by the San Francisco Police but the case against him has stalled due to a lack of eyewitness testimony.

4. #GIVEN The Irish Independent reports that Shay Given is an injury concern ahead of Ireland’s crunch Euro 2012 qualifier against Slovakia on 2 September.

The Aston Villa keeper tweaked his groin in the closing stages of Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Fulham and is waiting the results of a scan to assess the damage.

5. #RWC 2011 Sean O’Brien was named as the Guinness Rugby Writers of Ireland Player of the Year last night, capping a remarkable breakout season in the Leinster and Ireland back rows.

6. # KING KUN Sergio Aguero enjoyed a remarkable Premier League debut last night, scoring twice as Manchester City recorded a 4-0 win over new boys Swansea.

This strike, Aguero’s second of the evening and City’s fourth, was the pick of the bunch.
