The Morning Score: Tuesday

As the celebrations continue in the capital, here’s all the sports news you need to know this morning.

1. #DUBS An estimated 35,000 people turned out in Merrion Square last night to celebrate Dublin’s fairytale win over Kerry in Sunday’s All-Ireland Football final.

Check out some of the best pictures from the Dubs’ homecoming here.

2. #RWC2011 There’s just the one game in the Rugby World Cup today as Ireland’s Pool C rivals Italy and Russia go head-to-head in Nelson.

A bonus point for Italy would keep their dreams of qualification alive, and you can check up on their progress in Niall’s minute-by-minute report here.

3. #FAI CUP Defending champions Sligo Rovers are through to the semi-finals of this year’s FAI Cup following a 1-0 win over Shamrock Rovers at the Showgrounds last night.

It was a former Hoop, striker Eoin Doyle, who got the game’s only goal in the 22nd minute.

After Friday’s game in Oriel Park finished scoreless, Bohemians and Dundalk meet at Dalymount Park for their quarter-final replay tonight.

4. #CRICKET Ireland take on Canada in Clontarf this morning in the second One Day International between the sides.

Yesterday, opener Ed Joyce led the way with an individual tally of 88 as Ireland won by 133 runs.

5. #HISTORY New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera made history last night, picking up the 602nd save of his career as the Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins 6-4.

Here’s some rather low-res footage of the magic moment.
