The Morning Score: Tuesday

Here’s everything you need to know to start the day right – apart from what to get the guy from accounts for Secret Santa.

1. #SACK RACE It’s crunch time. Bolton and Blackburn clash tonight with respective managers Owen Coyle and Steve Kean facing the sack if the tie goes against them.

Rovers will be without Scott Dann, who has suffered an eye-watering injury.

2. #KEANO Sunday Times sports writer David Walsh last night took to the airwaves to defend Roy Keane.

The former Manchester United midfielder was the subject of a controversial and fascinating interview with the newspaper this weekend, in which he criticised former mentor Alex Ferguson.

Speaking on Newstalk’s Off the Ball programme, Walsh said Keane was ‘relaxed’. “The guy has a lot of integrity and we should accept that he’s different. He was totally relaxed [during the interview] and I didn’t sense any antagonism,” he said.

3. #RACISM ROW Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could find out today if allegations he racially abused Manchester United defender Patrice Evra have been proved.

Evra said he was abused up to 10 times by the Uruguayan while Suarez has tried to explain away his comments through cultural differences.

4. #WINDOW AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani expects to meet Manchester City chiefs tomorrow to discuss the possible transfer of Carlos Tevez.

5. #LONDON Dermott Lennon last night won the showjumping Olympia Grand Prix in London with the Irish-bred mare Loughview Lou Lou.

6. #PENN STATE Former coach Joe Paterno has been released from the hospital and has shown improvement after being treated for lung cancer, a person close to the former Penn State coach’s family said Monday.
