The Morning Score: Tuesday

So long, Lar… we hardly knew ye.

EVERY WEEKDAY MORNING, TheScore.ie brings you the stories you need to know before 9am.

1. #GAA Hurling fans are this morning coming to terms the exit of two of the game’s biggest names.

Last night the news emerged that Tipperary forward Lar Corbett had informed manager Declan Ryan that he would no longer be available for selection due to work and business commitments.

The Premier boss says the door remains open for the former Hurler of the Year.

As well as that, the Irish Examiner report this morning that Waterford’s talismanic forward John Mullane is to take an indefinite break from intercounty action.

2. #PREMIER LEAGUE Luis Suarez returned from his extended spell on the sidelines at Anfield last night but Liverpool could not break the deadlock against Spurs.

Scott Parker took the man-of-the-match award as both Andy Carroll and the Uruguayan missed late chances to nick all three points for the Reds.

Afterwards, a truculent Kenny Dalglish insisted that Suarez should never have been banned for his role in the Patrice Evra racism row. Harry Redknapp could not make it to Merseyside as planned after a day in court in London.

Here’s how it happened… including that cat.

3. #SIX NATIONS Declan Kidney’s squad will reconvene this morning ahead of the trip to Paris this weekend.

Keith Earls is expected to rejoin his team-mates after his late withdrawal last weekend. Here’s what you told us you’d like the coach to change ahead of the Stade de France fixture.

Philippe Saint-André has named an unchanged 23-man squad meanwhile.

4. #EURO2012 Giovanni Trapattoni’s final tournament squad will spend their final week of pre-tournament preparations in Montecatini in Italy, the FAI confirmed yesterday.

The squad will leave Ireland for the week-long training camp on 27 May, the day after their penultimate warm-up match against Bosnia in the Aviva Stadium.

5. #SUPER BOWL New York will welcome their Vince Lombardi trophy heroes to downtown Manhattan this afternoon with a ticket-tape parade.

6. #BOXING Kenny Egan insists he’s not finished quite yet. The Dubliner was beaten for the second year running in the national final by Joe Ward on Friday.

Yesterday however, the Beijing medal winner said he’d like to keep going until the 2016 Games.
