Four-day week, baby! Here’s all the sports news you need to know this Tuesday morning.

1. #EURO 2012 The Republic of Ireland extended their unbeaten run to 14 games in Budapest last night but it was Hungary who had the better of the chances in a tame 0-0 draw.

Thankfully there were no fresh injust worries as Giovanni Trapattoni and his men moved on to Poland. They will have their first training session in Gdynia later this afternoon as preparations continue for Sunday’s Group C opener against Croatia.

2. #YOUNG GUNS (PART I) Back at home, Noel King’s U21s came from two goals down to end Italy’s 100% record in their qualifying group for the European Championships.

A Shane Duffy own goal and a Ciro Immobile strike saw Ireland trail 2-0 at the Showgrounds by the 56th minute before Robbie Brady and Greg Cunningham saved a valuable point.

3. #YOUNG GUNS (PART II) The Ireland U20 rugby team kicked off their IRB Junior World Championship in style last night, stunning hosts South Africa with a historic win in Stellenbosch.

Jordan Coghlan and Iain Henderson added tries to the 13 points scored from the boot of out-half JJ Hanrahan as Mike Ruddock’s side edged a 23-19 win.

4. #FRENCH OPEN It’s quarter-finals day at Roland Garros. In the men’s singles, world number one Novak Djokovic faces fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Roger Federer meets Juan Martin del Potro.

In the women’s draw, Sam Stosur of Australia plays Dominika Cibulkova while Angelique Kerber takes on Sara Errani.

5. #NBA PLAYOFFS What has happened to the San Antonio Spurs? After winning 20 consecutive matches, the Spurs lost their third consecutive playoff game last night and now trail the Oklahoma City Thunder 3-2 in the western conference finals.

Kevin Durant put up 27 points as the Thunder moved to within one game of the NBA finals with a 108-103 win.

6. #STANLEY CUP The Los Angeles Kings made it three wins from three against the New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Final, winning 4-0 last night to take the penultimate step towards their first championship.
