The Morning Score: Wednesday

Here’s everything you need to know before you leave the house. Apart from where your phone is.

1. #CHANTING Chelsea added another bad night to a terrible week last night in Belgium.

Coming on the back of the stadium sale vote, defeats to London city rivals QPR and Arsenal and the John Terry racism investigation, Andre Villas Boas would have been forgiven for wanting a routine win away to Genk.

In fact, the hosts held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw - with David Luiz missing a penalty – and the occasion being marred by ugly chanting aimed at Anton Ferdinand.

The Blues boss denied hearing the nature of the crowd’s behaviour.

2. #CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Besides that action in Belgium, there was plenty more to take in last night.

Leo Messi scored a 14th career hat-trick as Barcelona cruised past Viktoria Plzen last night. Cesc Fabregas notched the other in a 4-0 win.

In London, Arsenal failed to score but so did visitors Marseille.  Here’s how all the action unfolded last night.

3. #TYRONE Another two bite the dust for the Red Hand. Mickey Harte – already without the likes of skipper Brian Dooher – now has to plan without Brian McGuigan and Philip Jordan.

The pair last night called time on their glittering intercounty careers.

4. #CHAMPIONS LEAGUE There is, of course, another evening of top European action in store tonight.

Manchester City are away to Villarreal with Roberto Mancini seemingly in forgiving mood. He says Carlos Tevez can stay at the club if he apologises.

Manchester United host Romanian side SC Otelul Galati at Old Trafford.

5. #UPS-AND-DOWNS Monaghan put one foot into the Airtricity League Premier Division last night with a 2-0 win over Galway United at home.

Michael Isichei put Mons one up after a quarter of an hour before Sean Brennan doubled the lead in the second half. They meet again on Friday night.

6. #FIXING Pakistani cricket stars Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were yesterday found guilty of involvement in a match-fixing betting scam.

They will be sentenced today, facing a maximum of seven years in prison.
