IF YOU THINK Ireland’s great debate over who should wear number 10 got out of hand, spare a thought for your cousins down in Australia.
For Ewen McKenzie’s first match in charge of the Wallabies, he selected Brumbies ‘five-eighth’ Matt Toomua over his chief play-maker while coach at the Reds, Quade Cooper.
Despite coinciding with a 29-47 defeat to new Zealand, it was a decision that certainly pleased the watching public in Sydney. Cooper was booed heavily on his introduction just after the hour mark, but by that stage he had already had the first laugh on Toomua.
