IAAF and WADA quash reports of doping suspicion over Turkish duo
Reports yesterday had claimed Cakir Alptekin and Nevin Yanit were at the centre of a doping scandal.

ATHLETICS’ WORLD GOVERNING body, the IAAF and the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA) yesterday distanced themselves from reports that two Turkish athletes were under suspicion.

Hurdler Nevin Yanit and Olympic 1500 metre champion Cakir Alptekin were the subject of an article in The Guardian yesterday which claimed the IAAF had confirmed abnormalities in a blood test of Alptekin and had suspicions over Yanit.

Yanit, a hurdler who took 60 metre gold this month at the European Indoor Championships with Derval O’Rourke in fourth,  finished fifth at London 2012 after taking the European title in Helsinki.

You can read The Guardian’s report here, and below are the denials from both the IAAF and WADA that the information came from them.
