CORK CITY FC are urging ticketless supporters not to turn up at Turner’s Cross for Thursday night’s Europa League third qualifying round second leg against KRC Genk (7.45pm).

With over 48 hours still to go before what is a massive game for the Leesiders, the SSE Airtricity League club confirmed today that there are no longer any tickets remaining for the visit of the Belgian side.

The ground will be full to its capacity of just shy of 7,000, as City aim to overturn a 1-0 deficit from last Thursday’s first leg at the Luminus Arena. Genk were allocated 5% of available tickets, as per Uefa regulations.

The bumper gate will be another boost to the coffers of Cork City, who have already earned €675,000 in prize money from their Europa League campaign so far. There’s another €230,000 at stake if they can overcome Genk and progress to a play-off for a lucrative place in the group stages.

“There’s enormous interest in Thursday’s game so demand has exceeded supply in terms of tickets,” a Cork City FC spokesperson told The42. “Unfortunately if you haven’t managed to get a ticket, there won’t be any available at the ground on the night.”
