The owner of the cat has yet to be identified but staff at Anfield have named it Sam according to BBC News.

He bears an uncanny resemblance to Moglet – Liverpool’s unofficial mascot in the 80s who was considered a lucky omen for the most successful club in British football history.

The Twitter account has amassed over 39,500 followers in just two days and is tweeting regularly about the cat’s new found fame while taking potshots at the likes of Michael Owen, a former Liverpool striker who now plays for arch rivals Manchester United.
