WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION Tyson Fury has denied allegations that he is being investigated for doping.
The Sunday Mirror claims the WBA, WBO and IBO belt-holder is being probed after testing positive for banned anabolic steroid nandrolone in a sample taken prior to dethroning Wladimir Klitschko last November.
It was alleged by the newspaper that the Brit could be stripped of his titles and slapped with a long ban.
The 27-year-old’s team and promoter Hennessy Sports issued a statement to rubbish the allegations as he recovers from an ankle injury which prompted him to postpone a rematch with Klitschko which was scheduled for July 9.
“We are baffled by today’s story in the Sunday Mirror. Tyson Fury absolutely denies any allegation of doping,” the statement said.
“He looks forward to recovering from his injury and defending his titles against Wladimir Klitschko in October.”
Fury on Friday revealed that he would not be able to return to the ring to take on Klitschko due to a sprained ankle sustained while running in the Lake District.
