UCC to host 2015 Sigerson Cup final with LIT to stage Fitzgibbon Cup weekend action

The venues have been announced for the concluding stages of next year’s third-level competitions.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS UCC will host the finals weekend  of the 2015 Sigerson Cup while Limerick IT will be the venue for the Fitzgibbon Cup equivalent.

The decision was made at a Comharile Ard Oideachais meeting last night with the dates for the prestigious third-level GAA competition to be finalised at a later date.

UCC won the Sigerson Cup this year with a 0-10 to 0-9 final win over UUJ in Belfast and will now seek to defend their crown on home soil. It will be the first time that UCC have hosted the event since 2003 when NUI Galway claimed victory in the final.

Limerick IT will host the Fitzgibbon Cup finals weekend and will be hoping to progress further than this season when they lost out at the semi-final stage after extra-time to eventual champions Waterford IT in Belfast.

It will be the first time the Limerick college have acted as finals hosts since 2005 when Davy Fitzgerald managed them to their maiden title at this level.
