PERENNIAL LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT contenders, Ryan Bader and Phil Davis ,will finally square off on the main card at UFC FN Stockholm early next year.
Universally recognised as two of the division’s elite wrestlers, a match-up between Bader and Davis has taken longer than expected to materialise.
While both men have been permanent fixtures in the top 10 at 205lbs over recent years, a common lack of consistency inside the Octagon has slowed their march towards a shot at Jon Jones’ title.
However, the pair are coming off impressive victories in their latest outings; Bader earned a unanimous decision over Ovince St.Preux, with Davis doing likewise against former No 1 contender Glover Teixeira at UFC 179. An impressive win for either man would be tangible proof they are still relevant in the division.
Bader and Davis are joining a card already populated with a main event pitting fellow light-heavyweights Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson against each other in a No 1 contender elimination match. In addition, the co-main event will feature living legend Dan Henderson and Gegard Mousasi at middleweight.
UFC Fight Night Stockholm is scheduled for 24 January, 2015, at the Tele2 Arena, and will the promotion’s first-ever stadium event on European soil.
